DIY: Rhinestone

I've been inspired by DIY blogs such as Stripes and Sequins, and when I found this project from Krystal, I knew it was simple enough that I had to try it. I'm not super crafty, but I figured it was foolproof enough. I picked this necklace up from Forever 21, bought some cheap, fun nail polish colors from Walgreens, and painted away!

 

Charmed, I'm Sure

I know the statement necklace has been a trend for a while, and I don't see this going away any time soon. I simply can't get enough! I've searched high and low for a great piece that mirrors my style as well as my price range and although pretty much everything I've been ogling is over $200, I think I found it. I bid on this J.Crew necklace on Ebay (above), and won it for only $30! Hopefully the package itself is the same as the picture (cross fingers). I'm going to try to pair it with the J.Crew Belinda bustier dress seen here. The coral from the necklace will be a nice contrast to the muted teal dress. Current Craving: Brook&Lyn Necklaces

I was browsing through my morning tweets, and discovered this designer, Mimi Jung, who is the founder of Brook&Lyn. She debuted her jewelry line, entitled "Surround" in June 2010, and it's pretty amazing. I've never seen anything like this and I want everything from her collection; they are absolutely beautiful. Each piece is made of multicolored agate and a microfiber rope. Who would have thought to mix those two elements together? Genius. Yin and Yang

I was recently introduced to Erica Anenberg jewelry and fell in love with two particular pieces: the black peace sign bracelet and the gold "junk" necklaces. For those that know me well know that I am into huge, chunky statement necklaces. However, this is a fresh departure from the norm, and sometimes it's nice to just keep it simple. I paired my black patent leather bracelet with my newly purchased Marc by Marc Jacobs white watch. Although it may a sharp contrast to some, it worked for me, as I was going for a punk/rocker girl vibe that day. What's nice is the bracelet just sits at the wrist and doesn't move anywhere. It's also patent leather, which I am currently loving. 

I wore the "junk" necklace that day too and I just found it so fun to wear. This necklace has four charms which include a little screwdriver, a nail, screw, and soda can top. They are 14k gold plated and the length of the necklace is 30inches, so it sits very nicely. I am usually a fan with layering necklaces, but with this one, I didn't feel the need to. Spotlight On: Stelios Jewelry

I went to New York City this past weekend to visit friends; while we were waiting for brunch in the Upper West Side we spotted vendors set up alongside a sidewalk. We walked the marketplace and stumbled across Stelios, which sold some pretty amazing jewelry. I've never really seen anything like this, and we all knew we needed to each buy something. Each piece of jewelry is macramed, crocheted or woven from copper wire, then plated with either 24k gold or pewter. They make pieces for celebrity clients, boutiques such as Scoop, and have been featured in "O" Magazine as well as InStyle. I am so glad to have stumbled across this vendor. My bracelet will definitely be an everyday piece for many years to come. Contact me if you want their business information!

DIY Project: Pearls and Chains

Sorry I've been MIA for a while...my computer decided to crash Thursday night and I was unable to turn it back on. After taking it to the Geek Squad, they said I could send it to Dell and get it repaired for a minimum of $200. I decided I might as well get a new computer and I hope that this one lasts longer. In the 4 days that I have been computer-less, I was bored and decided to play around with my jewelry.

I recently purchased this multi-layered chain necklace from Forever 21 for $5.80. I wanted to jazz it up a bit and found a long strand of faux pearls hidden in my drawer. I twisted them together, trying to get them as tangled as possible. For effect, I found a few brooches lying around and pinned the necklaces together. I like the pearls mixed in with the chains, giving it a hard, yet subtle feminine look.
