Black Betty

Something about a gingham pattern makes an outfit so polished and refined. I purchased this top from J.Crew and loved it so much that I bought the same exact one in orange. I wanted to pair it with a necklace, and decided to button it all the way up to add that extra preppy style. I threw on these tweed shorts to give it a Fall feeling, and since I wasn't too keen on a dark ensemble, the blue pumps had to be worn.

Buffalo

I was perusing my blog and saw that I had purchased this skirt over two years ago, and realized that I haven't worn it in a while. I decided to give it a go today at work and dressed it up a bit with a blazer. I do wish I added a bit more color, but I was in a rush this morning, and didn't have the time to sift through my closet. However, I can't wait to experiment with this look and perhaps mix patterns with this outfit.

Reminiscing about Plaid

After looking at so many fashion magazines and making several trips to the mall, it's obvious that everyone has been "mad about plaid." It's absolutely everywhere, and a definite trend for fall. I've always been a big fan of plaid, and this rebirth of the trend made me reminisce about one of my all-time favorite dresses. I found this awesome Betsey Johnson dress two years ago at Nordstrom's Rack for only $99. I love the sweetheart neckline, and that it's not a loud color. It's unique and it makes a statement without being overpowering. I've only worn it twice, and am dying to wear it again, but sadly, I don't have any events to wear it to. Sadness. Do you have an all-time favorite dress?

Recent Purchases

I decided to have some time to myself yesterday and went on a little shopping trip. I was disappointed that I didn't find more things, but then again, at least it saved me money! I went to Forever 21 in search of a cute and inexpensive skirt, and I found it! I've been obsessed with plaid lately and couldn't resist this buffalo plaid skirt in royal blue and black. I tried it on and found that the lace trim was heinous, but I looked at it and discovered that I could cut the trim off. It looks infinitely better without the lace, and it's more wearable as well. I'm thinking of tucking in a black v-neck tee or tank, throwing on a simple dark gray cardigan, and using a bright yellow envelope clutch. Not only is this skirt super comfortable, but it costs only $14.80! I'm also on the lookout for the printed skirt below. If I can't find it soon, I may have to purchase this one online!

Fab Trend: Plaid

I used to think plaid was just some type of checkered pattern that was only associated with Scottish kilts. I didn't know there were different types of plaid. Who knew that words such as Tartan, Blackwatch, and even Buffalo would be associated with plaid? I have seen plaid popping up everywhere, and it's a definite trend right now--in skirts, button ups shirts, coats, headbands and accessories, and dresses, just to name a few. Below are some examples of the main types of plaid and after viewing this, you are now plaid savvy!
