Jenna Lyons on Oprah

If you've ever stepped into a J. Crew store, you would notice a wall near the registers entitled "Jenna's Picks." Jenna Lyons, the current Creative Director for J.Crew, is the mastermind behind revamping the brand from preppy to more hipster and fashion-chic. My friend sent me this video clip, which delves into the exciting life of Jenna Lyons, which includes her fabulous wardrobe and closet. Click here to check it out!

What I Wore: No One Will Rain on my Parade

Top: Sweater from New York and Company
Jeans: Levi's skinny jeans
Boots: Hunter Rainboots
Necklace: New York and Company

Nothing beats a comfy dolman sleeved sweater to wear on a chilly and rainy day. I love the scoop neckline and the splash of fuchsia for color. The weather may be dreary, but I needed something to brighten my outfit up. Of course, nothing is ever complete without a multi-layered necklace. I know there's nothing special about this outfit, but it's so simple and so comfortable, I just had to share!

In Suspense

I was cleaning out my old magazines when I stumbled across this Elle magazine with Victoria Beckham rocking suspenders. I have been indifferent with suspenders, but after working with them during the Levi's photo shoot, I think it breeds such understated sexiness without overdoing it. Not sure if I could pull this look off, but I appreciate it for what it is!

I think the best way to wear this look is with something really casual. I always associate this look with the "hipster" scene, and would look great with a pair of skinnies and oxfords. I'm also digging the straw fedora, but would avoid over accessorizing. Avoid having the suspender straps from being too tight, or you could even look like a caged animal. Keep the fit relaxed and even a bit slouchy if possible.

Beginnings

Today is the day! After a good month of getting my life back in order, I can happily say that I am in a good place and getting used to what my new life entails. For those that know me, I am always anti-change. I hate settling into new routines and thrive on set schedules and planning. Well, as cliche as it sounds, life doesn't always work that way, I have come to realize (it was bound to happen eventually). As hard as it has been, I am finally embracing change.

This is the first year where I have been determined to stick to my New Years Resolution: Enjoy life and not stress too much over the little things. In the past 4 months, I have learned how to rock climb, traveled, signed up for surf lessons, reconnected with people, gave my room a makeover, tried new foods, partook in a photo shoot--and that's just skimming the surface. The important thing, is that although these these may seem trivial to one, doing these things has enabled me to fully realize that life is just too short to live in constant routine. Sometimes, change is good.

I am going to try my absolute hardest to keep this blog alive and kicking. In the end, it's all about the love for fashion, right? ;)

Below are some pictures of the things that I have done in the past couple months. Enjoy!
