In Combat

I love the olive green military jackets that I've been seeing everywhere. I scored one from my magical Levi's sample closet and have been wearing it with anything and everything. I am also currently obsessing over stripes. All I wear are stripes and I can't get enough. A simple striped shirt with the jacket, cuffed sleeves, a huge statement necklace, ultra skinnies with chunky boots and you're ready to combat the world.

What I Wore Today: Marching to Michael Jackson

Jacket: Vintage
Top and Jeans: Banana Republic
Boots: Target
Sunglasses: Chanel

When I saw pictures of Christophe Decarnin's (designer of Balmain) Michael Jackson inspired marching band jackets on the runways, I couldn't help but love the crystal, sequined, strong shouldered jackets. Since then, I've been obsessing about Balmain. I was browsing online and stumbled across Black Luna Vintage on ebay, where I purchased a vintage marching band jacket from the 80s. I scrunched up the sleeves and wore it with boots to create a more relaxed look. I'm contemplating on sewing black sequins on the strips of the jacket, but am still deciding on how that will turn out. In the meantime, here are my inspirations!

and one of my favorite Janet songs: Rhythm Nation!

Fab Trend: Military Jackets

I'm always looking for an updated look or a new style to clothing, so it was a matter of time before I discovered the military jacket. I know this has been featured in several runway shows in the past, but it took a while for me to fully embrace this trend. I love the balance of the strong and structured, yet feminine style of these jackets. You can pair them with skinny jeans or even a voluminous skirt. Either way, you are bound to look like you are ready to take on the world in your suit of armor!
