Through the Looking Glass

Sometimes a plain white top, jeans, and bold necklace is all I need...

Street View

I don't know what it is, but the combination of army green and deep, burnt orange sounded like a good idea that morning. I'm trying to stick to my goal of no shopping, and to find new outfits to create without being too boring. I found these shorts while organizing my dresser, and realized I hadn't worn them in at least 5 years. Thus, I decided to give them another shot. I completed the look with this colorful clutch from Ron Herman that I found in our sample closet, and I was ready for another Monday work day.

Treasures

I first read about the Nordstrom concept store, Treasure & Bond about two months back, right before the store opening in early August. Fast forward to the end of August, and we find ourselves "stranded" in New York, gallivanting the streets of SoHo. The cool thing about Treasure & Bond is that 100% of all after-costs profits go to local charities. Thus, in exchange for their generosity, the Nordstrom brand gains some market research into how New Yorkers shop. The store gives off a hipster vibe with treasures that I could never afford; nevertheless, it's an experience in and of itself.

Wrapped

Tank: J.Crew
Cardigan: Forever 21
Belt: Vendor Sample
Skirt: Forever 21
Shoes: DV Dolce Vita

Another warm day in the city meant another skirt day for me. I opted for my sherbet striped tank from J.Crew (less than a $10 score!), and wanted an excuse to wear my new twisted belt that I found while going through our sample closet. I paired it with a gray sequined cardigan just in case the weather decided to turn on me, which you can never tell when you live in San Francisco.

Maxi Stripes

Dress: Nordstrom
Shoes: DV Dolce Vita
Blazer: Urban Outfitters
Necklace: Forever 21

We are finally experiencing our late summer, and I am wearing dresses galore. I found this maxi dress at Nordstrom and let me tell you--being vertically challenged and finding a dress that I didn't have to alter was a huge win for me! I paired it with my structured mini blazer from Urban Outfitters, threw on a white beaded necklace, my favorite taupe wedges, and I was ready for the day.

Parking Lot

Top: Forever 21
Jeans: William Rast
Shoes: H&M
Ring: Gift from Mom
Belt + Bag: Vendor Sample

My camera is finally back and I decided to experiment at my work parking lot before heading home. The weather was amazing, and we couldn't miss the opportunity of taking some fun shots in the warm sun. I wore these jeans on purpose because they are so loose, and it gave me an excuse to wear my newly acquired horse belt.

Wedding Option #4: Watercolors

I can't believe how fast this year has gone. It was just four months ago when I had four weddings to attend and was blogging about so many dress options. As I look back on previous posts, I am pleasantly surprised that I stuck to my options that I styled on Polyvore. I wore this number to a friend's wedding in June, and I wore this (with some details adjusted) to the latest wedding in Vermont.

I also remember writing about how I will be wearing this to a wedding in wine country. However, I have changed my mind. I love the dress; it fits perfectly, but it doesn't give it the "wow" factor that I'm searching for. Instead, I'll be donning this at the Welcome Dinner the night before, and will be wearing the outfit below for the big day instead. I am so in love with this Alice and Olivia dress. It reminds me of waterfalls. It's different, yet not overbearing. It's funny how I coveted the dress back in May, but it was simply too expensive for me to purchase. Fastforward three months later, and it's at my doorstep. Needless to say, if you keep coming back to a dress, regardless of the price, you will always find justifications to purchase it.

Across the Tracks

I am always so camera shy, but my friend insists on me taking pictures in the middle of the street to give it a more "action-y" vibe. I finally cracked, but was so embarrassed to be taking these in front of people, that I couldn't help with the nervous laughter. It doesn't help when cars honk at you either. I recently discovered my chambray shirt and J.Crew necklace combo and can't get enough of it. I also brought out my yellow Bandolino wedges to amplify the outfit just a tad more. Now I've turned a typical Levi's uniform and mixed it with my own personal style.

Jet Black

Do you ever have those days when you wake up and feel like dressing up? Well I had a case of the Mondays, and needed just that to boost my mood for work. While sifting through my closet, I found my Elizabeth and James romper nestled between my black clothes (yes I color code my closet) and immediately knew I would wear it. I wanted to amp it up a bit and paired this basic black romper with this colorblocked belt and black pumps to still exhibit that office attire/professional feel. I donned my new stone ring that my mom bought for me as a present and I was instantly in love. Yet, there is another go-to ring that you will see me wearing many times over. And yes, for a Monday, I was in a very giggly mood.

Currently Loving: Satchels and Combat Boots

One of the things that I will never be able to pull off are combat boots. I simply don't have the hispter vibe and swagger; plus, my short stature doesn't help. However, I think they're pretty amazing, and paired with skinny jeans, and a masculine satchel bag (clearly, I'm obsessed with the Proenza Schouler ones) seems like the perfect combination for a laid back weekend.
