I Got the Blues

Dress: Forever 21 (for only $10.80!)
Leather Jacket: Nordstrom
Necklace: Claudia Gill
Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs
Shoes: Stuart Weitzman

I attended a San Francisco Style and Beauty event, which was hosted by Shop It To Me (in which I am a trendsetter for their website!), Benefit Cosmetics, and Meghan Donovan of  Wit and Whimsy. I met many great San Francisco based bloggers and writers and chatted about the best things: fashion and style! I had a great time and the gifts from Benefits Cosmetics added icing to the evening.

I wore a cobalt blue scoop neck, dolman sleeved dress with my gray suede Stuart Weitzman shoes and leather jacket. The dress was only $10.80 and you can wear it in so many different ways--versatility is key! I've worn it with a belt to give it more structure or nix the belt and have one sleeve fall down my shoulder. I added a subtle gold multi-layered necklace by Claudia Gill. It's so lightweight and simple, but it really adds that perfect touch.

Happy Friday and Have a Great Weekend, Everyone! xoxo

Birthday Celebrations + San Diego

So I've kinda been obsessing over the one-shoulder/asymmetrical "thing," but I can't help it. Like I mentioned before, I have always been so skeptical with how I would look in it, but I think it's rather flattering. No, this isn't the same dress as worn here, but it's pretty similar. I should find a more fun color, but what can I say? Black is my color.

I went to San Diego last weekend to soak up some sun, eat at my favorite joints, and more importantly, to celebrate one of my closest friend's birthday. We layed out by the pool, went shopping, had a delicious dinner in the Gaslamp, and spent the rest of the evening bar hopping. We ended the night with a bang which involved a swimming pool and a 24-hour Burger King drive through. That is where I'm going to leave it :)

Dress + Ring: Forever 21
Shoes: Vince Camuto as shown here

Pile of shoes...mix of Seychelles, Coach, and Vince Camuto

We've known each other since we were 10 years old
I hope you had a fabulous birthday, B! xoxo

Ready for Work?

I absolutely love the new Fall 2010 Levi's Go Forth Campaign, which is influenced by a small struggling town called Braddock, located in Pennsylvania. This campaign has a heritage, all-American, working class feel to it, and to me, it is all about going back to the classic Levi's brand. I've already had some questions from friends who have seen the ads splattered across the streets of San Francisco, but are unsure of what the direct message is. Below is an excerpt that Levi's shared with the public:
Amid today’s widespread need for revitalization and recovery, a new generation of “real workers” has emerged, those who see challenges around them and are inspired to drive positive, meaningful change.  This fall, with the introduction of Go Forth ‘Ready to Work’, the Levi’s® brand will empower and inspire workers everywhere through Levi’s® crafted product and stories of the new American worker.   Bolstered by its pioneering spirit and ‘Go Forth’ rallying cry, Levi’s® will explore how a new generation of real American workers is rolling up their sleeves to make real change happen.
The muse for Levi’s® new campaign is Braddock, a town embodying the demise of the blue collar base that is taking radical steps to reverse its decay.  Braddock now faces a new frontier of repurpose and new work in what was once a flourishing industrial mecca.  Since 2001, John Fetterman, the mayor of Braddock, has taken his fight for social justice in Braddock to the masses by enlisting the help of modern pioneers – artists, craftsmen, musicians and business owners – to rebuild and revive the town.   As it rebuilds, Braddock has become a model for how any city, in any part of the country, can prevail as a symbol of hope and change.

GO FORTH

Yin and Yang

I was recently introduced to Erica Anenberg jewelry and fell in love with two particular pieces: the black peace sign bracelet and the gold "junk" necklaces. For those that know me well know that I am into huge, chunky statement necklaces. However, this is a fresh departure from the norm, and sometimes it's nice to just keep it simple. I paired my black patent leather bracelet with my newly purchased Marc by Marc Jacobs white watch. Although it may a sharp contrast to some, it worked for me, as I was going for a punk/rocker girl vibe that day. What's nice is the bracelet just sits at the wrist and doesn't move anywhere. It's also patent leather, which I am currently loving.

I wore the "junk" necklace that day too and I just found it so fun to wear. This necklace has four charms which include a little screwdriver, a nail, screw, and soda can top. They are 14k gold plated and the length of the necklace is 30inches, so it sits very nicely. I am usually a fan with layering necklaces, but with this one, I didn't feel the need to. It's a cute, "tough as nails" (no pun intended!), necklace that speaks for itself. Erica Anenberg's jewelry can be found at stores such as Kitson on Robertson in LA, Henri Bendels, and Ron Herman. However you can purchase more on her direct website here! To purchase the pieces featured on this post, see below!

I Love The Plastics

On Sunday, I spent another day in the Marina, having amazing sandwiches and catching an afternoon movie (Eclipse to be exact!). Afterwards, we trekked to Hayes Valley to indulge in macaroons and walk around the neighborhood. I entered a frou frou looking boutique and picked up the first pair of shoes I could find. I flipped them over and saw that the price tag was $500. There was no way I was going to be spending money in there. As I continued browsing, the sales associate informed me that everything, yes EVERYTHING in the store was 50% off. How could a girl resist such a deep discount?

I scanned the shoe section and saw these cute plastic Vivenne Westwood Melissa Ultra flats. Who knew "cute" and "plastic" would ever be in the same sentence? I especially love the tortoise shell colored bow and the tiny peeptoe. The best part is that I scored them for only $65 (originally $130). They are easy on my soles and so versatile--like Dita Von Teese below, you can dress it up and wear them with a chic black trench or with casual slouchy pants like Carey Mulligan.

Happy Anniversary!

Don't let the title fool you--there is no anniversary I'm celebrating, except the Nordstrom Anniversary sale! I stopped by the San Francisco center last Friday and it was packed. I've been looking for a white watch (the Fossil one I ordered a while back never arrived and I was refunded) and this one had my name written all over it. I'm so happy with my purchase. The gold isn't too shiny/harsh and it doesn't look cheap.I purchased this for $99 and the price will go back up $150 come August, so hurry! I went back to the store yesterday and they were all sold out. So glad I finally found my new summer watch!

Shoe Fetish Anonymous?

I love wandering aimlessly at the mall. You have absolutely no agenda to buy something, and then you find something so cute that you must have it right now! I stumbled across a pair of DV Dolce Vita shoes at Macys a few weekends ago, and they were on sale for $49; sadly, they were not in my size. Then I was on a mission. I HAD to have them--no matter what! I ran over to Nordstrom and was so excited when I spotted them on display, only to find out that the last pair in my size were damaged. Feeling a bit dejected, I went home thinking of an alternate plan. Just for kicks, I tried nordstrom.com and not only were the shoes available online, and not only were they available in my size, but they were discounted for (brace yourself!) $19.50! The shoe gods loved me that day. I quickly punched in my credit card and they arrived in the mail yesterday. Needless to say, it was a successful purchase. I have a shoe problem, but then again, what girl doesn't?

5 inch heels? No Big Deal

Went to TJ Maxx today to do some shopping for some decorative housewares, and of course, I got distracted and found these great 5 inch Vince Camuto heels and for only $69.99 (originally $120). I picked the last pair in my size and made a mad dash for the register, as I couldn't wait to try them on at home. They fit perfectly and are oh-so comfortable. I had dinner at such a casual restaurant tonight, but I still found the need to wear these out. I figured this was my hour of glamour for the day, considering I wore flats all day. Sometimes I think I was born in heels!

Romp Around

Summer Love #4 (I'm beginning to lose count over here): Rompers. Ok, so I was hesitant to wear rompers last summer because I have never been a short-wearing type girl (see post about denim shorts). As mentioned below, after working out consistently for the past year and getting a nice healthy glow, I am finally satisfied with my legs. I went a little crazy on the shorts and romper department, and have been buying them like a mad woman. I am now the proud owner of 4 rompers and find that the ones with a drawstring fit my body type the best (let's face it, I'm not model thin!). Not going to lie, kinda obsessing over the chambray. Pair it with a mustard cardigan for that pop of color and my gray fedora and I'm ready for 4th of July!

Love my fedora from Urban Outfitters

I'm on a Boat, Bitch!

My first pair!

Summer Love #3: Boat shoes. I am a preppy girl at heart and I think these are absolutely adorable. Big Pony Ralph Lauren polo shirt, shorts, boat shoes = perfect East Coast attire. I can picture myself on a yacht right now. I was shopping online at Zappos and spotted all these patent leather Sperry top-siders and fell in love: orange, lavender, and yellow, oh my! I was about to purchase a pair when my Director at work reminded me that Levi's made their own version of boat shoes. I called my contact and got a navy pair over-nighted to me and they were on my feet the next day. These will definitely be a summer staple!

A plethora of Sperry's
