Smells Like Teen Spirit

Headed over to the American Apparel warehouse sale at Fort Mason to only encounter aisles of clothes and aisles of hipsters. The markdowns weren’t extremely friendly to the wallet but the glittery spandex, neon leotards and scrunchies made me want to “get physical” like Oliva Newton-John or just time travel to the 80's with a topsy tail hairdo. A farmer’s market was going on right next door and the assortment of flowers were perfect for your Thanksgiving cornucopia.

This is my last post before Victoria returns. Have a great weekend!

Vibrant Chills

I digged through my drawers and found this whimsical top I hadn't worn in a while. Don't know what brought me to pair it with my searsucker Levi's, but I thought it would work in a funky way. I anticipated the chilly weather and threw on a gray cardigan to take the outfit down a notch and create a more relaxed vibe.

Glitter Me Pink

Top: Forever 21
Skirt: J.Crew
Necklace: Heritage Row
"V" Necklace: Ambiance
Shoes: Kelsi Dagger

I wore this to my mom's birthday dinner at Michael Mina on Sunday, and the first thing that she said when she saw me? You are so shiny. I wore this skirt out in public once before and I was so self conscious by all the weird looks that I vowed to not wear it again. Well, fast forward 6 months later, and I found a very special occassion to wear it. You either love it or you hate it, and this skirt is back on my "love" list. The bold color from the blouse and the sequin skirt gave it a double punch. Obsessed. Special thanks to my new weekend photographer, who shall be known as the "cliche blogger's boyfriend."

Flutter

I spotted this fluttery kimono-esque lightweight jacket at Forever 21, and within seconds, it was in my hot little hands. I love the color blocking effect it has (orange interior, fuchsia exterior) and the movement of the fabric. I would have paired it with a plain black tank, but today, I was feeling a little adventurous and decided to add sparkle. Forever 21 has a ton of flowy cardigan/jackets and below are a few of my favorite options, with the center one being the one that I currently own. The best part? All under $25 each. Score.

Poncho

I found this little poncho at Forever 21 (along with the camel blazer from the post below) and decided to wear it over the weekend. The color reminds me of everything Missoni and the fringe on the bottom is just so playful. It's not super functional as it doesn't keep me warm, but it's definitely comfortable and perfect for running errands. My weekend included rearranging my room, brunch in North Beach, and running in preparation for my first half marathon in less than 2 weeks. I'm now ready to tackle the work week ahead!

Flowers

I purchased this dress from Forever 21 in Hawaii. I love the billowy silhouette and it's perfect for the sunny SF weather. I've been on a dress craze lately and hope that I get the chance to wear them all before the weather decides to turn.

Saturday Afternoon

I spent a good few hours on Saturday with the roommate shopping in San Francisco. I purchased three pieces from Anthropologie (stay tuned for pics!) and a basic top from Forever 21. It was a rather successful shopping trip and I can't wait to wear all my new purchases! As most of you know, I live in heels, so wearing these flats put a little damper on my mood. I was suffering from shin splints, and couldn't risk wearing heels when I had my big 10 mile race the following day. I'm proud to report that I completed the race! I'm glad I finished, was able to push through, and accomplish all of my goals. Hope you all had a good weekend!

Studded Shapes

I was browsing my closet yesterday morning and found my whimsical navy blue top with pink geometric shapes. I remember when I first picked it up, I liked it because it was a nice departure from something I would normally wear. I even forgot that I had it--don't you hate it when that happens? I opted for my William Rast white jeans, tucked my top in and billowed it out a bit, and slapped on a yellow belt. I was scanning my endless pairs of shoes and found my studded Topshop booties that I bought when I was vacationing in New York last year. Since the weather was temperamental, I threw on my khaki anorak from Andrew Marc. Clearly my white jeans are screaming for it to be summer. Just another chilly San Francisco day.

Sunkist

 Cardigan: J.Crew
Tank/Skirt/Belt: Forever 21
Shoes: Madden Girl
Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs

I don't know why I don't wear my favorite J.Crew cardigan more often. I love the scalloped detailing, the bright color, and the soft light merino wool. Paired it with a chambray skirt, the usual heels and I was ready to go out for the day. Although I must say, as comfortable as those shoes are, walking the steep hills of San Francisco can be a bit of a challenge, but at least I got to work out my legs?

Gray + Pink

Top: Forever 21
Jeans: Levi's
Shoes: Elizabeth and James
Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs
Purse: Louis Vuitton

Again with the gray and black, but decided to add that little pop of color with this braided pink belt found in the Levi's sample closet! Instead of tucking the shirt all the way in, I am kind of into messily tucking it in the front, and leaving the back untouched. Happy Friday!

I Got the Blues

Dress: Forever 21 (for only $10.80!)
Leather Jacket: Nordstrom
Necklace: Claudia Gill
Watch: Marc by Marc Jacobs
Shoes: Stuart Weitzman

I attended a San Francisco Style and Beauty event, which was hosted by Shop It To Me (in which I am a trendsetter for their website!), Benefit Cosmetics, and Meghan Donovan of  Wit and Whimsy. I met many great San Francisco based bloggers and writers and chatted about the best things: fashion and style! I had a great time and the gifts from Benefits Cosmetics added icing to the evening.

I wore a cobalt blue scoop neck, dolman sleeved dress with my gray suede Stuart Weitzman shoes and leather jacket. The dress was only $10.80 and you can wear it in so many different ways--versatility is key! I've worn it with a belt to give it more structure or nix the belt and have one sleeve fall down my shoulder. I added a subtle gold multi-layered necklace by Claudia Gill. It's so lightweight and simple, but it really adds that perfect touch.

Happy Friday and Have a Great Weekend, Everyone! xoxo

Birthday Celebrations + San Diego

So I've kinda been obsessing over the one-shoulder/asymmetrical "thing," but I can't help it. Like I mentioned before, I have always been so skeptical with how I would look in it, but I think it's rather flattering. No, this isn't the same dress as worn here, but it's pretty similar. I should find a more fun color, but what can I say? Black is my color.

I went to San Diego last weekend to soak up some sun, eat at my favorite joints, and more importantly, to celebrate one of my closest friend's birthday. We layed out by the pool, went shopping, had a delicious dinner in the Gaslamp, and spent the rest of the evening bar hopping. We ended the night with a bang which involved a swimming pool and a 24-hour Burger King drive through. That is where I'm going to leave it :)

Dress + Ring: Forever 21
Shoes: Vince Camuto as shown here

I hope you had a fabulous birthday, B! xoxo

Viva Las Vegas!

I'm going to Las Vegas this weekend with my two bestest friends from college! I haven't seen them since last April, so we are having a reunion, and we're doing it big-Vegas style! I had to get a new dress, and I found this at Forever 21. I loved it because 1. it's only $22.80 2. It's shimmery, without being too Las Vegas showgirl and 3. the fit reminds me of the Herve Leger dresses-it's not that tight, but it's definitely a body-con dress. I'm just going to keep it simple and wear this with my plain black Gucci peep toe pumps and maybe just a huge cocktail ring. Viva Las Vegas!

What I Wore Today: Layered Necklaces

I wore this yellow/green top out last night; since it was so plain, I needed a statement necklace to go with it. I started off with my rhinestone necklace from Forever 21. Although it made enough of a statement, I was playing around and put my H&M layered chain and pearl necklace on top of that. I topped it off with a dark blazer so it didn't shine so much, and I thought it worked in a different, funky way. I'm usually all about simple looks, but I figured I might as well take a risk!

Recent Purchases: A Forever 21/Bloomingdales Bonanza

Last weekend, I went to Bloomingdale's just to look around, and was shocked to find a pair of gold Enzo Angiolini sandals for an additional 40% off. To top it off, I used my associate discount (yes, I can use it at Bloomies too!) and the total came out to be about $18. I left the store happy that I found such a great deal! I tried to link the picture to the Bloomingdale's site, but they don't carry the shoes. I found them on Zappos, but they're selling them for $59...sadness.

After work today, I walked a couple blocks to the colossal 3-story Forever 21 store in San Francisco. I must admit I was very overwhelmed with the amount of people in the store as well as the endless merchandise. Nevertheless, I managed to navigate through the store and found a few cute things...(click on pictures to purchase)
  • Pleated denim dress for $29-- I feel a little naked in this dress, so I might wear it with a fitted blazer. If that doesn't work, then I might return it, stay tuned!
  • Gray ankle boots for $27.80-- I'm already preparing for the fall!
  • Stone drape necklace in black for $13.80--This comes in white too!
  • White necklace for $7.80--I love this necklace because it kind of has an Egyptian-esque feel to it.

In attempts to control my spending I brought a specific amount of cash with me, but I couldn't narrow my choices, which resulted in not having enough. Thus, I gave up and broke out the credit card. I can't believe I bought 3 pairs of shoes in the last few weeks. I'm going to be scared to open my credit card statement. Eek!
