Random Musing of the Day

My roommate sent me this link on nymag.com and one word came to mind: seriously? I understand Louboutins are highly regarded in the fashion community, but sometimes I feel that designers overextend themselves and decide it would be a great idea to put something out there. Is it because they think that any cousumer would buy it because of the famous brand or is it really an artistic expression from the designer himself? To be honest, I don't see any fashionable woman (unless she's an oddball like Lady Gaga or a shoe collector) wearing these shoes. Why would you want to look like a fiesty feline? If you ask me, I think they're a little too much "grr."

Men's Edition: Desert Boots

Since I work for a retail company, I can't help but notice the different styles that the Levi's employees sport around the workplace. Lately, these desert boots have been everywhere. It's not casual like a converse sneaker, but it's also not too dressy either. It has the perfect balance of stylish yet work appropriate. I'm currently loving the blue and orange suede shoes--very Spring and a great departure from muted colors.

Current Obsessions: Something New, Something Blue, Something Prada

As promised, I have been rotating my handbags more often. I'm sure everyone is sick of seeing the black denim Louis Vuitton, so I gave my purple ombre deerskin Prada a little debut over the weeekend. As much as I love this purse for being unique and its ability to be quite roomy, it's so heavy. I love the crackled, soft leather and how it shimmers in the sunlight. I've also recently acquired a new black Michael Kors watch and trying to balance my new one with the rose gold one that I absolutely adore makes my dressing in the morning take a bit more effort than usual. However, I will not complain, because what girl doesn't love options? I also decided to take random pictures of my blue ring that I'm obsessed with as well as my long Native American themed necklace that I wore to work today. Oh, and please excuse my dusty dresser.

Men's Edition: Scarves

When you work in the world of licensing and you deal with a lot of product, you can't help but be influenced. We've been receiving a ton of scarf samples, and I've been going through boxes and boxes of women's scarves. Although this blog is primarily about women's fashion, I try to think of the men too! I've had a couple requests to discuss men's scarves, so I found myself researching just that.

For the everyday guy, I find that plain, and simple scarves work best. If you're going to go for a pattern, don't do anything too crazy--basic, classic stripes would be a great alternative to something plain. Other than that, I would stray away from embellishments such as heavy tassles and unattractive patterns such as tie dye. Colors such as gray, navy, olive, and tan are so versatile that they would look great with virtually anything. I suggest investing in some good quality pieces from places such as Brooks Brothers, where you know that they would last for a very long time.  With that being said, you are now ready to shop for the perfect scarf! Easter Dressings

Easter is just around the corner, and I had the hardest time figuring out what to wear. I know the most common thing is to wear a dress, but what is one to do when the weather is gloomy and dreary? I decided to suck it up and pack a dress and heels and hope that the weather holds up. There is nothing I hate more than to wear cute heels in the rain. I did, however, contemplate on going a little more casual with pants. But since I'll be wearing jeans all weekend, I opted for a more dressier option. I decided to style two looks: one dressy and one that was more casual elegant. Which option will you be donning for Easter?

Burnt Orange

I've never really worn blouses, so when I saw this deep orange top at Anthropologie, I decided to step outside of my comfort zone. I did my usual "half tuck in, half blouse out" for a more casual, relaxed look, paired it with rolled Levi skinnies, and my favorite studded Nordstrom pumps. The red Marc by Marc Jacobs bag would have been a little too much color for me, so I brought out my brown, wrinkled Prada bag. I love that everytime I take it out, the leather smells like new car--and I've had it for over 5 years. I've realized that I have so many more purses that need to make their debut on this blog. Stay tuned!

Sail Away

I scored this light gray knit blazer from Anthropologie for only $30. How amazing is that? I love the gold buttons on the jacket and that it's not super structured and stiff. I felt like I was dressed for a yacht with my seersucker jeans; unfortunately  the sun wasn't shining on Monday and I felt my attire was not the most appropriate for the rainy weather. I wanted to add that extra pop of color, so I debuted my new red Marc by Marc Jacobs bag. I think the Louis Vuitton has been temporarily replaced with my new vibrant red bag--for the time being at least.
